Wednesday Heroes: Tyrone Wood and Glen Doherty
On September 11th, an attack on the US Embassy killed our Ambassador, an aide and two former American SEALs, Tyrone Wood and Glen Doherty. These two warriers were not part of the force tasked with defending the compound. The first alarms sounded calling for help when a mob breached the walls of the consulate around 9:30. It was then these two men answered the call, despite being retired and having no official position requiring them to put their lives on the line. the attack. They were instrumental in leading countless American to safety away from the burning consulate. At 2am, the safe house (CIA annex) was attacked and these two heroes again fought back. After countless requests for assistance, including that 3am call Hillery alluded to during her 2008 run for President, they were finally killed by a mortar attack around 4am–7 hours after the two men decided to do what must be done to protect American lives.
Four people are dead, two former SEAL for their heroism, and we mourn their passing.
These brave men and women sacrifice so much in their lives just so others may get to enjoy freedom. For that I am proud to call them Hero.
