Navy vs. Penn State–It’s Been a While

navy footballnittany lionsIt’s been two years since Penn State and Navy announced the renewal of their storied series and it couldn’t come at a better time for both of them. Navy, coming off a losing season, needs a top-notch opponent to show what they can do, and Penn State–well, you’d have to be living under a rock to not know the trials their football program has faced the past six months. Navy will show up at University Park’s Beaver Stadium with a passel of Midshipmen and one of the most enthusiastic support system in college football.

The Nittany Lions and Mids have met 37 times, with the PSU holding a slight edge with 18-17-2, though the last match up ended in a victory for the Mids in a 7-6 upset over the eighth ranked Lions at home.

According to Naval Academy Athletic Director Chet Gladchuk:

“Playing Penn State again will bring back many memories for our alumni and friends of Navy Football. The opportunity to visit one of the most impressive stadiums in all of college football and take on the challenge of this storied program will be very inspiring to our coaches and student-athletes.”

Both teams lost their season openers.

Hey sis (my sister’s a Penn State fan), let’s message each other.
